     Margaret Hart, daughter of Edward Hart and Mary Dempsy, was born circa 1839 in Muirkirk, Ayrshire.1,3,4

In 1858, Margaret was Domestic Servant.1

Margaret Hart married Edward McGovern, son of Peter McGovern and Margaret Dolan, after Banns, according to the rites and ceremonies of the Roman Catholic Church on 7 May 1858 in Strathaven, Lanarkshire. The marriage was conducted by James Milne. Their witnesses were Thomas Kelly and Bridget Morgan.5,6,1

Margaret Hart appeared in the 1861 census of South Side, Queensferry, West Lothian, in the household of Peter McGovern and Ann (?).3

Margaret registered the birth of her son Michael McGovern in 1866 at Castle Street in Hamilton.7

Margaret registered the birth of her daughter Margaret McGovern in 1868 at Churchyard Street in Strathaven.8

Margaret and Edward appeared in the 1871 census of Strathaven, Lanarkshire, at Churchyard Street, Mr Arbuckles. Their children Peter, Michael and Helen were listed as living with them. Margaret was described as a Field Worker.4

Margaret registered the birth of her son Hugh McGovern in 1872 at Churchyard Street in Strathaven.9

Margaret Hart died on 3 November 1875 in Strathaven, Lanarkshire, at Church Yard Street. The cause of death was given as bronchitis of four months duration.10
